For many, the winter holiday season can sometime feel like elbowing for room at the family table: Chanukah, Christmas, Kawaanza, Solstice, (Festivus!)…the list goes on.

But this year, latkes came with a slice of pumpkin pie.  And while it was nice to spin the dreidel in-between bastings, for many the Festival of Lights should come with a side of snow.

Here then are eight ways to rekindle the holiday spirit, and have yourself a happy (second) Chanukah…

Walking Tour: On the 25th, join the 23rd Annual Christmas Day Jewish Lower East Side Walking Tour to explore more than 150 years of Jewish history on the East Side.  Combining historic and religious sites, the tour includes visits to the founding site of B’nai B’rith, the Jewish Daily Forward, the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue, and sites associated with Rabbi Jacob Joseph, Abraham Cahan, and Lillian Wald. Wednesday, December 25 from 10:30 AM & 1 PM, meeting at the Southwest corner of Delancey and Essex Streets, in front of the American Choice Deli/Chase Bank.  Hosted by Big Onion.  Tours last approximately two hours.  Adults $20, Students/Seniors/BHS Members $15…more.
