Israel and The Middle East

B'nai B'rith International's Israel/Middle East policy includes issues such as fighting terrorism; supporting Israel's right to defend itself; preventing Iran's efforts to acquire nuclear weapons; preserving the unity of Jerusalem; promoting the rights of Jewish refugees from Arab and Muslim countries; and supporting direct negotiations between the parties to the Middle East conflict while affirming the importance of Israel's critical security needs.

Domestically, we advance our Middle East priorities by supporting congressional legislation such as the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act and the Iran Freedom Support Act; and communicating regularly with the White House and State Department to promote the Jewish community's interests in the Middle East.

Internationally, B'nai B'rith encourages other governments to build stronger bilateral and regional ties with Israel.  We provide analysis and expertise on current Middle East issues, and we facilitate Israel's efforts to provide humanitarian assistance abroad.  The B'nai B'rith World Center in Jerusalem plays a vital role in these efforts, as do our offices in Washington, D.C., New York, Brussels, and Montevideo.

At the World Center in Jerusalem, B'nai B'rith focuses on Israel and its place in the world.  The World Center promotes strong Israel–Diaspora relations.  It is the voice of the B'nai B'rith community to the Israeli government, national institutions, and the NGO community in Israel.

At the United Nations, B'nai B'rith advocates for policies that reflect a fair and responsible perspective on the Middle East conflict.  B'nai B'rith leaders meet with U.N. officials and ambassadors to discuss key Jewish concerns, such as preventing and eliminating anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, Israel's status at the U.N., and anti-Israel proceedings at the Human Rights Council.
