Just as we did two summers ago when Hezbollah rockets from Lebanon wreaked havoc on northern Israel, B'nai B'rith International is again opening its Israel Emergency Fund (IEF)— this time to aid the victims in southern Israel.
The Israeli citizens in the volatile border towns of Sderot, Ashkelon, and other cities live in fear daily as the range, power, and frequency of Hamas-launched rockets from the Gaza Strip increases. After a recent visit to the embattled region, BBI President Moishe Smith and Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin sent a letter out to BBI members explaining that the towns' only crime is their geographic location.
The IEF funds will be distributed to residents of border towns so that they may achieve some form of normalcy in their lives. For some residents, "normalcy" means staying in their homes, while others may want to relocate. The donations will also go towards supporting short term materials needs or providing trips out of the city and enrichment programs for families, classes, or community/youth groups.
You may donate online using a secure online contribution form, or, you can send your contribution (payable to the B'nai B'rith Israel Emergency Fund) to:
