BBI Asserts: No Room for Bible Burning

B'nai B'rith International has issued the following statement:

B'nai B'rith International joins the Israeli government in condemning the recent burning of Christian bibles in the Israeli town of Or Yehuda.

The burning of books violates the values and interests of the Jewish people and the democracy that is the State of Israel. We strongly condemn any form of senseless provocation against any religious group.

BBI welcomes the apology of the deputy mayor of Or Yehuda, who had urged the destruction of literature distributed by those engaged in proselytizing. Missionary activity is unlawful in Israel.
