His Excellency Pierre Vimont, Ambassador of France to the United States, addressed a luncheon audience at BBI headquarters in Washington on July 23. As BBI President Moishe Smith and Executive Vice President Dan Mariaschin presided, Vimont discussed his government's agenda for its six-month Presidency of the European Union, which began on July 1.
Before an audience of more than 100 that included ambassadors, diplomats, staff from prominent Washington think-tanks, and B'nai B'rith members, the Ambassador discussed the issues the French Presidency will place greatest emphasis on, including climate change, agriculture, immigration, and European defense. Ambassador Vimont also fielded questions about the Iranian nuclear threat, terrorism, the Middle East peace process, and anti-Semitism.
