The B'nai B'rith International Office of European Union Affairs hosted a program titled "Terrorism and Europe: Threats and Responses" in Brussels on Sept. 16. The luncheon seminar, "Potential Threats to European Security," featured European Union (E.U.) Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove, NATO Assistant Secretary General Guy Roberts, and George Washington University Director of Terrorism Studies Professor Yonah Alexander. The panel was moderated by BBI Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin. Members of the European Parliament Alexander Alvaro, Helga Truepel, Paulo Casaca, Jozef Pinior, and Jana Hybaskova co-sponsored the event and were among the 44 members of European Parliament that recently signed a resolution calling on the European Union to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Several leaders of B'nai B'rith Belgium also attended the event. The event was attended by more than 100 people from the European Parliament, other E.U. institutions, as well as ambassadors and members of civil society. The event was organized by Adam Mouchtar, director of BBI's Office of European Union Affairs.
