Seven physicians and nurses from the Schneider Children's Medical Center in Israel, one of the leading pediatric care facilities in the world, led a two-day "Israeli-Latin American Symposium on Children's Cancer Diseases" in Uruguay directed at educating 150 medical care professionals from several Latin American countries. Led by Dr. Isaac Yaniv, the director of the Schneider clinic, topics included transplants, radio oncology, new developments in treatment of pain, and other concerns. The program was planned by the Massada Unit of B'nai B'rith Uruguay with the support and sponsorship of MASHAV, Israel's international development cooperation program, and local foundations dedicated to battling children's cancer. Uruguayan Acting Minister of Health Miguel Fernandez Galeano and B'nai B'rith International Vice President Jacobo Wolkowicz gave the opening address.
