B'nai B'rith International (BBI) memorializes the 70th anniversary of the Kristallnacht tragedy, which took place across Europe on Nov. 9-10, 1938. On the "Night of Broken Glass," at least 91 Jews were killed and countless synagogues, Jewish-owned stores, community centers, and homes were attacked and looted.
BBI stresses the importance of remembering this tragedy in order to assure that it never happens again.
"It is imperative that we keep the memory of Kristallnacht as a reminder of the importance of stopping intolerance and injustice at its roots, through education, legislation, and law enforcement," BBI Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin said. "We must be vigilant and assure that attacks against any people never again go unpunished and unchallenged."
