B'nai B'rith International (BBI) is pleased to announce the creation of a memorial endowment honoring the late Jess Fisher, former Chairman of the B'nai B'rith Israel Commission, and his late wife Mildred. The one million dollar endowment was received from the Robert M. Fisher Memorial Foundation, which the Fishers created in memory of their late son Robert, who died at a young age.
The generous gift will underwrite two key programs within B'nai B'rith's Center for Human Rights and Public Policy: BBI's annual United Nations leadership program in New York and the Diplomatic Encounter Series in Washington, D.C. John Schofield, President of the Robert M. Fisher Memorial Foundation, stated, "The Fisher family was committed to Israel and to the role that diplomacy and discourse should play in our complicated world. We believe this gift will help continue B'nai B'rith's work in these areas." Daniel S. Mariaschin, Executive Vice President of B'nai B'rith International, added, "In the spirit of Jess's interest in Israel and international affairs, we are honored to be able to perpetuate his and his wife's memories through the funding of these important programs."
