B'nai B'rith Latin America Leadership Mission to Israel to Commence May 4 The fifth annual B'nai B'rith Latin American Leadership Mission to Israel will commence on May 4 in Jerusalem at the beginning of Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations.
This intensive mission, organized by the B'nai B'rith World Center in Jerusalem, is the largest in the program's history. B'nai B'rith has been active in Latin America for nearly 100 years.
The 40-member mission, led by B'nai B'rith Latin America Chairman Julio Froimovich of Chile; Leon Birbragher of Colombia; Deputy Chairman Pablo Grinstein of Argentina; and B'nai B'rith Latin America Affairs Director Eduardo Kohn of Uruguay, will last six days. B'nai B'rith International President Moishe Smith will also participate in the mission.
The mission participants will be briefed by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Tzipi Livni; Minister Isaac Herzog; Knesset Member Yuval Steinitz; National Security Council Chairman Daniel Arditi; and Yesha Council Chairman Dani Dayan.
The group will participate in the official Holocaust Remembrance Day, as well as Independence Day opening ceremonies, and will visit Yeshivat Merkaz Harav, Sderot, and Kibbutz Nahal Oz on the Gaza border. Participants will also tour Ammunition Hill with Israel Defense Forces paratrooper Gadi Meir, and will visit the Israel Military Industries, the Weizmann Institute, and Ariel Sharon Park.
The group will also host the ambassadors of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Uruguay for a program on the Iranian threat.
