University of New Hampshire Honors BBI's Daniel S. Mariaschin

B'nai B'rith International (BBI) Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin received an honorary degree from his alma mater, the University of New Hampshire (UNH), on May 24, "for distinguished service protecting the rights of Jewish communities worldwide."

Mariaschin, a 1971 graduate of UNH, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at this year's commencement ceremonies.

Mariaschin's ties to New Hampshire run deep. He grew up in Swanzey and is a 1967 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School. His parents operated the "Blue Shop" women's apparel store on Central Square for many years. Mariaschin also worked as an announcer at WKNE radio in Keene between 1966 and 1972.

For 20 years, Mariaschin has played an integral role at BBI. He is a well-respected international voice on human rights issues, Israel, and the role of Jews in the world today. As executive vice president, Mariaschin oversees all of B'nai B'rith's programs, activities, and staff. He also serves as director of B'nai B'rith's Center for Human Rights and Public Policy. Mariaschin regularly meets with world leaders to continue BBI's efforts to protect the rights of Jews and Israel.
