BB and OSDE Foundation Sign an Agreement in Argentina

B'nai B'rith Argentina and the Office for Sustainable Development and Environment (OSDE) Foundation of Argentina signed an agreement on July 15 to move forward with a program of donations of medicines, which was launched in 2002. In its six years, this program has distributed $52 million in medicines, wheelchairs, and other needed medical equipment in Argentina.

About 200 people attended the signing ceremony, which was chaired by Boris Kalnicki, president of B'nai B'rith Argentina, and Dr. Tomás Sanchez de Bustamante, president of OSDE Group and OSDE Foundation. The well known journalist Nelson Castro coordinated and summarized the event, which was named "Adding Efforts."

After both presidents spoke, Latin America Director Eduardo Kohn made a presentation on behalf of B'nai B'rith and noted that the joint program, along with the input and assistance of B'nai B'rith units in the region, have made it possible to deliver medicines and medical equipment to other nations such as Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, and Cuba. Kohn said, "Tzedakah is justice, social justice, we believe in and we work on, when we help those in need all over the world."

Catholic priest Pablo Molero, who is in charge of the Department for Unable in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, outlined the need to work for more efficient distribution and inclusion. He also congratulated OSDE and B'nai B'rith for their joint work.

Kalnicki talked about the importance of the program around the country, and committed B'nai B'rith Argentina to continue working on this project – a major example of community service in the region.
