Scientist Flavio Zolessi Wins B'nai B'rith Uruguay
Light and Truth Award

On June 29, 2008, B'nai B'rith Uruguay presented its fourth annual Light and Truth Award to Flavio Zolessi, 37, a doctor of biological sciences, and a professor and expert in biomedicine. The award, created by the Victor and Clara Soriano Foundation, B'nai B'rith Uruguay, and the B'nai B'rith Oriental Unit, promotes young Uruguayan professionals in the fields of science and technology.

Victor Soriano is a founding member of B'nai B'rith Uruguay and one of the most prestigious medical doctors in the country.

The award will be presented to Zolessi by Uruguay's Under Secretary of Education and Culture,  Felipe Michelini; the mayor of Montevideo, Ricardo Ehrlich; the president of BB Uruguay, Enrique Jinchuk; and the president of the Oriental Lodge, Ruben Katz.

Like prior recipients, Zolessi will travel to Israel and one European country in 2009, as part of a program developed by the B'nai B'rith World Center in Jerusalem.
