In recognition of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter’s commitment to the Jewish community, B’nai B’rith Liberty Region has named him its Person of the Year and formally honored the mayor at a luncheon on October 25 at Temple Sinai.
Since his election in 2007, Mayor Nutter has reached out to Philadelphia’s Jewish community repeatedly, regularly attending Jewish events, visiting synagogues, and even participating in the Jewish Federation’s Phonathon this past year to help raise funds for community projects.
“Mayor Nutter is the paradigm of a true leader, guiding through not only words, but also actions,” said Dennis Glick, B’nai B’rith chair of the executive, from Huntingdon Valley. “We welcome his friendship and his involvement in the Jewish community.”
“In the ‘City of Brotherly Love,’ Mayor Nutter has been a conspicuous partner for B’nai B’rith specifically and the Jewish community in general,” said Daniel S. Mariaschin, executive vice president of B’nai B’rith International.
Nutter serves on the Board of City Trusts, which manages Philadelphia’s various charitable assets.
