B’nai B’rith International (BBI) Chairman of the Executive Dennis Glick and Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin led a B’nai B’rith delegation for an hour-long meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Uruguayan House of Representatives in Montevideo on Oct. 29.
Among the key issues BBI leaders discussed with the Uruguayan legislators were Iran, Uruguay’s U.N. voting record (especially with regard to the Human Rights Commission in Geneva), Uruguayan-Israeli relations, and general U.S.-Latin American ties. The BBI leaders agreed to request that the next U.S. administration make Latin America a high foreign policy priority.
Jaime Trobo, the committee chair, welcomed the B’nai B’rith delegation and delivered the unanimous resolution of the Congress to endorse the U.N. resolution to annually observe Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27.
BBI delegation members included Glick, Mariaschin, Senior Vice President Jacobo Wolkowicz, District 28 President Enrique Jinchuk, District 28 Mentor Denis Herrnstadt, chair of the Political Commission Franklin Rosenfeld, and B’nai B’rith Latin Affairs Director Eduardo Kohn.
