Intercommunal Leader Receives Young Professional Award
B'nai B'rith International (BBI) Director of Intercommunal Affairs David Michaels has received the 2008 Jewish Communal Service Association's Young Professional Award. The award, given to three winners this year, "recognizes integrity, commitment, creativity, and the importance and impact of [the winners'] exemplary work."
Michaels, with BBI since 2004, became the first director of the intercommunal affairs office when it was launched in 2006. Since then, he has met with Pope Benedict XVI three times, attended the Presbyterian Church's General Assembly, and met with countless religious leaders. Recently, Michaels took part in King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia's interreligious conference in Madrid.
BBI congratulates Michaels' co-winners: Naomi Sage of American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and Cara Unowsky of The Jewish Home & Hospital LifeCare System.
The three winners received their awards at the Nov. 16-20 General Assembly of United Jewish Communities in Jerusalem
