The B'nai B'rith International (BBI) program Project H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Everywhere) will bring Passover meals to elderly and needy Jews in several northeast population centers from March 29 to April 5.
These areas include Long Island, the Bronx, Connecticut, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., and the Virginia/Maryland suburbs.
Project H.O.P.E. started 35 years ago in Brooklyn, but its success soon led it to other locations.
Volunteers are always needed for various tasks, such as packaging food, breaking down boxes for recycling, and loading cars.
Beyond dropping off packages, recipients are always appreciative of a little company during the holidays. Many volunteers make Project HOPE a family project.
Baskets to be distributed will include such Passover necessities as eggs, oil, wine or grape juice, gefilte fish, matzo and macaroons.
All donations during these difficult economic times are greatly appreciated.
