B’nai B’rith International has issued the following statement:

B’nai B’rith vehemently deplores the horrific stabbing murders of Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem this weekend.

A knife-wielding terrorist murdered two men, Nehemia Lavi, 41 and Aharon Bennett, 22. Lavi was killed when he reportedly ran to help Bennett as the attack was underway. Bennett’s wife is hospitalized with serious stab wounds. The couple’s 2 year old was also injured; their infant was unharmed.

Outrageously, the terrorist group Hamas praised the attack.

In a second terror attack 12 hours later, a 15-year-old Israeli boy was stabbed in the back and chest.

These attacks are now part of a series of anti-Jewish violence that has engulfed Jerusalem. Just days earlier, Palestinian gunmen shot and killed a young couple as they drove with their children.

We implore the international community to take notice and unequivocally condemn that Israelis cannot go about their normal business without the threat of terror.

B’nai B’rith extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel.
