UCC Measure Accuses Israel of Mistreating Palestinian Children
B’nai B’rith International President Gary P. Saltzman and CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin have issued the following statement:
B’nai B’rith International decries the one-sided anti-Israel resolution that the United Church of Christ (UCC) passed on July 2. The measure alleges the Jewish state has mistreated Palestinian children residing in Gaza, the West Bank and parts of Jerusalem.
At the UCC General Synod, 79 percent voted in favor of the resolution, 13 percent against and only 9 percent abstained.
The motion, which was drafted by the UCC Palestine/Israel Network, perpetuates the pro-Palestinian, pro-BDS narrative and ignores the history of Palestinian incitement against Israel. The fact that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority encourage Palestinian children to commit terrorist acts against Israelis is completely ignored by this shameful resolution.
This latest anti-Israel polemic from the UCC does nothing to advance the cause of Middle East peace. On the contrary, it hinders it by continuing the campaign of demonization of Israel and once again disincentivizing the Palestinians from returning to the negotiating table.
