A B’nai B’rith International leadership delegation will be in Geneva from March 6 to March 11 to advocate against anti-Israel bias at the United Nations Human Rights Council. B’nai B’rith leaders from countries including the United States, Switzerland, France, Italy, Luxemburg and Canada will urge fairness toward the Jewish state during that body’s main yearly session.

“B’nai B’rith’s constant presence at the United Nations, especially at a Human Rights Council that often passes unending anti-Israel resolutions despite a reality in which Israel is the Middle East’s greatest protector of human rights, is more vital than ever,” B’nai B’rith International President Gary P. Saltzman said.

The delegation will be led by Saltzman, B’nai B’rith International Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin and B’nai B’rith International Chairman of the Executive Peter Perlman.

“The ritualistic anti-Israel resolutions under the Council’s Item 7, which permanently singles out Israel alone for unparalleled and unjust scrutiny, intentionally disfigures the record of an exemplary democracy and distracts from the world’s most grave human rights abuses elsewhere. B’nai B’rith fights for the people of Israel as they are subjected to terrorism on a near-daily basis, to the indifference of the Human Rights Council and other major international bodies,” B’nai B’rith International Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin said.

B’nai B’rith delegates will conduct numerous bilateral meetings with ambassadors and other key diplomats from around the globe, deliver formal statements at the Council and host a diplomatic reception at the U.N. headquarters in Geneva.
