B’nai B’rith International praises the speech President Donald J. Trump gave today in honor of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Martyrs and Heroes Remembrance Day). Trump spoke at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, which holds an annual commemoration of the Shoah. To an audience that included Holocaust survivors, members of Congress and Jewish leaders Trump expressed his support of the Jewish people and spoke of the horrors they faced as “beyond any description,” and reminded everyone that we need “to remember and to bear witness.”

Trump noted: “The Nazis massacred six million Jews. Two out of every three Jews in Europe were murdered in the genocide, millions more innocent people were imprisoned and executed by the Nazis, without mercy, without even a sign of mercy.”

Speaking of the anti-Semitic attacks Jews are facing in the United States, and around the world, Trump said, “This is my pledge to you. We will confront anti-Semitism. We will stamp out prejudice. We will condemn hatred. We will bear witness and we will act.”

The president also talked about his commitment to Israel: “As President of the United States, I will always stand with the Jewish people and I will always stand with our great friend and partner, the State of Israel.”
