![]() Assisting the Georgia Community on Christmas with the Pinch Hitter Program Since 1980 the Pinch Hitter Program, organized by Achim/Gate City Lodge of B’nai B’rith, located in Atlanta, Ga. has been a wonderful opportunity for the Jewish community to “go to bat” for non-medical hospital personnel on Christmas Day. In 2012 they volunteered in twelve area hospitals and assisted living centers to give non-medical staff members time off to spend with their families. Volunteers cooked and served food in cafeterias, folded sheets in hospital laundries, read to residents and called bingo in assisted living facilities. In 2012, volunteers at the facilities participated in shifts varying from 5 to 14 hours. Total: Approximately 2,000 hours by 252 volunteers at 12 locations Sub-total: 2,525.5 hours |
