Community SupportThe projects of B'nai B'rith International promote volunteerism and the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam — the repair of the world in which we live. Volunteers often receive more satisfaction than those who benefit from the projects.
B'nai B'rith supports many community programs in which their members and supporters can participate. These volunteer programs include: B'nai B'rith Literacy Volunteers Working with adults and children, B'nai B'rith volunteers coach those who need reading assistance. This includes tutoring and supporting book drives for young children so that they can read at home and improve their skills. Schlep Sunday (Collections of Clothing and Household Items) An annual event in Houston, Schlep Sunday is held around the country — with local variations. Volunteers collect items, including blankets, coats, hats, gloves, and other winter clothing, as well as costume jewelry and interview clothing for women in shelters. Food Drives and Bagel Brigades Food collections for the needy and delivery of food to the homebound are both B'nai B'rith projects. Get Out the Vote Projects include voter drives and registration, providing absentee ballots, and assisting seniors to the polls. Model Seders B'nai B'rith provides community Seders for those who do not have access to their own. Center for Community ActionThe B'nai B'rith International Center for Community Action (CCA) helps serve individual Jewish communities and the world, providing disaster relief and services to those in need, promoting respect for others and celebrating diversity, and offering a helping hand.
From Sri Lanka to New Orleans to Israel, B'nai B'rith members and supporters have provided the funds to aid these disaster and war-torn areas, seeking to fill the needs that might otherwise be overlooked. In local communities around the world, B'nai B'rith volunteers reach out to the sick, the needy, and those hurt by intolerance and indifference. Caring During COVID-19
