U.N. Panel Discussion:  "The Rescue of Jews in Albania"

1/27/2014

Comments

Picture
B'nai B'rith International in annual commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day invites you to the United Nations for a special program:

"A Community Saved: The Rescue of Jews in Albania"

In extraordinary contrast with much of Europe, Albania -- a Muslim-majority nation occupied by Germany in 1943 and 1944 -- proved a place of refuge for virtually its entire Jewish population and others who sought haven there during the Holocaust. In all, some 2,000 Jews were rescued in this small, diverse country from the Nazi genocide.

Monday, January 27, 2014
1:15 - 2:45 PM

Welcome by Allan J. Jacobs, President, B'nai B'rith International
Remarks by Ambassador Ferit Hoxha, Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations

Discussion with additional guest speakers moderated by Daniel S. Mariaschin, Executive Vice President, B'nai B'rith International

United Nations Conference Building – Conference Room 3
First Avenue at East 47th Street
New York City

RSVP required by January 20 to
rsvpUN@bnaibrith.org or 212-557-0019

Photo identification required for entry

In the event of inclement weather only, please call 212-490-1352 before arrival, for notification on any possible schedule change

In cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Albania to the United Nations

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prior to the B'nai B'rith program, you are invited to join us at the United Nations for the world body's official Holocaust remembrance ceremony

“Journeys through the Holocaust”

Monday, January 27, 2014
