2019 ANNUAL REPORT
The Global Voice of the Jewish Community

Who We Are

Speaking up and speaking out: against anti-Semitism, against BDS, against the delegitimization of Israel. By working together – with our staff, our volunteers, our donors and our supporters – B’nai B’rith has a global impact. Whether you are looking back at our legacy or forward to the future, you will find a steadfast dedication to Israel, support for the Jewish people, a commitment to universal human rights, stability for older adults and help for people suffering in the wake of a catastrophic disaster.
With our high-impact, results-oriented 176 years of service, we are a source of innovation and charity: B’nai B’rith has founded hospitals, orphanages and senior housing communities, plus launched disaster relief campaigns, tolerance education programs and countless additional endeavors.

Our accomplishments this year include humanitarian aid efforts in locations such as the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and Pittsburgh, relentless diplomatic work at the United Nations and all its global agencies, introducing global diplomats to Israel, advocacy for the needs of seniors and a commitment to domestic and international policies that are in the public safety realm.

Dear members, supporters and friends of B’nai B’rith,

Allow us to share with you an exciting year of accomplishments and results, confronting vital issues across an array of topics.

In this annual report, you’ll discover:

  • We speak out against anti-Semitism and the odious Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement worldwide.
  • We advocate on behalf of America’s aging population against those who would diminish social service safety nets such as Social Security or Medicare.
  • We have an active presence in Israel through our World Center-Jerusalem, which serves as our point of contact regarding service and diplomacy with Israeli government officials.
  • We serve thousands of people in need in local communities throughout the United States. Among many projects in many cities, we deliver kosher for Passover meals to homebound elderly people.
  • We speak out tirelessly in defense of Israel at the United Nations and its agencies. We were there when the U.N. was founded, and we continue to have a full-time daily presence, deeply involved in protecting Israel’s interests.
  • We provide critical, affordable and nonsectarian housing for seniors of limited income across the country.
  • We have a powerful presence in Latin America, where we monitor anti-Semitism, promote Jewish culture and act on threats against Israel that emanate from Iran’s expanding presence across the region.
  • We raise and distribute funds for long-term rebuilding projects when disasters strike local communities.
  • We fight for restitution for Holocaust survivors.

On the local, national and international stages every day, B’nai B’rith impacts Jewish life, Israel and the greater community. We are proud of our global efforts. Read on.
