Our Focus

ISRAEL AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE

Israel is the eternal home of the Jewish people. It is also a singular focus for obsessive condemnation at the United Nations, its agencies and other international institutions, as well as among various governments around the world. Attacks against Israel’s legitimacy do not only come at the national and international level, of course. Bias against Israel is an issue around the world in the media and academia, and on social media. B’nai B’rith works tirelessly to support and defend Israel, the only Jewish state in the world.

B’nai B’rith established its presence in the Jewish homeland in 1888. Since that time, we have been deeply involved in helping many aspects of society, including aid to schools and hospitals, establishing clubs for the blind, helping recent immigrants, delivering food and clothes to needy people, providing housing for soldiers who have completed military service, organizing Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations for boys and girls from families in need and assisting with special scholarship programs and institutes for special education.

The Unbroken Covenant

Click here to read “The Unbroken Covenant” which tells the remarkable and little-known story of B’nai B’rith in Eretz Yisrael from its beginnings in the1890s until the period following the founding of the state. It is a story of dogged determination by a community of activists who would drive a movement toward Jewish revival in Israel, supported by B’nai B’rith members in other countries.

Combating Anti-Semitism and Fighting BDS

In the battle against the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, B’nai B’rith is swift to condemn and counteract all efforts to delegitimize the Jewish State. Anti-Israel measures taken by the BDS movement only reward the Palestinians for their continual perpetuation of the conflict. BDS is an anti-peace movement that tries to use a façade of human rights language to cover up the anti-Semitism at the very heart of the movement. B’nai B’rith will always stand strongly with Israel against any individual or entity that attempts to engage in BDS activities. B’nai B’rith is also quick to recognize those who have joined the fight against the BDS movement, publicly lauding states, schools, artists, academics, celebrities and associations that have put down any attempts to isolate and demonize Israel.
