Development & Legacy Giving Manager

The Development & Legacy Giving Manager serves a key role within B’nai B’rith’s Development Department. Reporting directly to the COO and working in coordination with the Vice President of Development & Strategic Initiatives, the Manager is responsible for supporting and advancing the organization’s fundraising initiatives with a primary focus on planned giving, grant writing, and donor stewardship. The ideal candidate is a strategic, organized, mid-career philanthropic professional with expertise in nonprofit fundraising and planned giving vehicles along with a passion for the mission of B’nai B’rith.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with the Vice President of Development & Strategic Initiatives to ensure alignment with the organization’s overall fundraising strategy and priorities.
  • Implement and manage the day-to-day activities of the organization’s planned giving program, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and beneficiary designations.
  • Manage administration of existing legacy giving vehicles while maintaining accurate records and income forecasts.

Areas of Focus

    • Implement and manage the day-to-day activities of the organization’s planned giving program including bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and beneficiary designations.
    • Manage administration of existing legacy giving vehicles (CGAs, Bequests, etc.), while maintaining meticulous records, documentation, and income forecasts.
    • Field and respond to inquiries from prospects, attorneys, and advisors with professionalism and accuracy.
    • Utilize Crescendo Interactive to generate donor profiles, agreements, personalized gift projections, and donor illustrations, as well as develop marketing materials.
    • Identify, cultivate, and steward planned giving prospects through personalized outreach.
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote legacy giving opportunities, including print and digital communications, seminars, and one-on-one consultations.
    • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on gift planning vehicles, working with donors’ financial and legal advisors as appropriate.
  • Program-Specific Campaigns & Grants
    • Support the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives for B’nai B’rith programs.
    • Research and identify aligned foundation and institutional funding opportunities.
    • Write and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports to foundation and institutional donors.
    • Implement and maintain campaign calendars, ensuring timely submissions, reporting, and compliance with funder requirements.
    • Coordinate messaging, deliverables, and submission schedules across departments.
  • Donor Stewardship & Operations
    • Identify new prospects to grow donor portfolios and increase support for the organization.
    • Implement donor stewardship activities that reinforce the impact of giving and strengthen donor relationships. Ensure the timely and personalized acknowledgment of all gifts, including thank-you letters, impact reports, and recognition opportunities.
    • Leverage the donor database (DonorPerfect) to track prospect activity, manage pipelines, and generate reports.
    • Prepare reports, campaign trackers, and analysis as needed.
    • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit development work
  • Experience in planned giving, development operations, and grant writing strongly preferred
  • Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of planned giving instruments (bequests, CRTs, CGAs, etc.) and the legal and tax frameworks that govern them
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, DonorPerfect, or equivalent)
  • Ability to multitask effectively and calmly in a dynamic setting
  • Knowledge of Jewish communal philanthropy and alignment with B’nai B’rith’s mission a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $65,000-$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. B’nai B’rith International offers vacation and sick leave, most federal and Jewish holidays, short and long-term disability, life, medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending plans and 403(b) plan.
