Closing Remarks

To be read aloud:

We can not read every name aloud because we do not have all of the names of those murdered by the Nazis. However, Yad Vashem has collected the names of more than half of the Shoah’s six million victims. With our walk and this commemoration, we strive to remember because we can never forget.

As the rabbinic saying goes, “Forgetting is the first step to oblivion.” “Unto Every Person There is a Name” rescues the memory of those who were consigned to oblivion, redeeming the reality of their lives, and the denied promise of their futures.

Remembering is up to all of us.

Thank you for your participation in the 2018 “Unto Every Person There is a Name” Ceremonies coordinated in North America by B’nai B’rith International. For more information about the materials provided contact cji@bnaibrith.org or call 212-490-3290.
