Combating anti-Semitism B’nai B’rith is dedicated to illuminating the hatred of Jews as a distinct and unique social illness, and to marshaling efforts to combat and – where possible – eradicate this phenomenon. We work diligently to prompt officials to fight anti-Semitism at all levels, delivering that message to governments and intergovernmental bodies, while taking action on college campuses and speaking out in the media. We advocate to members of Congress and government officials, advancing our priorities by supporting legislation such as the Never Again Holocaust Education Act, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, the Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act.  B’nai B’rith leaders communicate regularly with the White House and State Department to promote the Jewish community’s interests in the U.S., the Middle East, Latin America, Europe and throughout the world.

With Anti-Semitism increasingly visible today, with attacks against the Jewish community around the world, B’nai B’rith raises its voice to say that we will not stand by while our fellow Jews are attacked, whether on the street or online. The need to act remains, and we continue to remind the world that hatred and violence against our people is not acceptable and indifference to it has dire consequences.

At the United Nations: B’nai B’rith has served as an NGO (non-governmental organization) at the United Nations since 1947, maintaining full-time representation at U.N. agencies around the world. Working under the B’nai B’rith International Center for Human Rights and Public Policy (ICHRPP), our U.N. office works tirelessly to ensure that key Jewish concerns are addressed, with specific focus on the safety of Israel and the Jewish people.

Our special status allows B’nai B’rith to have representatives at the world body in New York, the Human Rights Council in Geneva and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris. This global presence allows for unparalleled access and the ability to stand up and speak out against injustice and anti-Israel bias on the world stage.

In Israel: : The B’nai B’rith World Center in Jerusalem is the hub of B’nai B’rith International activities in Israel, serving as the key link between Israel and B’nai B’rith members and supporters around the world.  Through educational programs and well-established relationships with political leaders of all parties, the diplomatic corps, and leading academic institutions, the World Center works to strengthen Israel-Diaspora relations and interprets developments concerning the Jewish state for our members and supporters around the world.

The World Center also facilitates visits to Israel for a diverse array of diplomats posted at key agencies of the United Nations, promoting the Jewish State as an influential leader in education, technology, agriculture and medicine. These missions allow participants, from ambassadors to journalists, to immerse themselves in Israel’s culture and garner a better understanding of the complexities of the region.

Around The Globe: Our vital work around the globe extends to dozens of countries. We have members and supporters in Australia, Canada, Europe, Israel, Latin America, and the United States. With offices in Argentina, Belgium, Israel, Uruguay, New York and Washington DC, we are truly the global voice of the Jewish Community.

We have a particularly long history of social action throughout Latin America, working with heads of state, local communities, and fellow organizations to improve the lives of people in the region, and with the Organization of American States (OAS), ensure the voice of the Jewish community is represented.

As one of the leading Jewish organizations in Brussels, we advocate for Jewish and pro-Israel priorities, such as promoting Holocaust restitution and remembrance before European Union institutions and NATO.

Today, B’nai B’rith’s presence throughout the world ensures that Jewish communities have a voice and remain safe and secure.

SeniorsAs the leading national Jewish sponsor of housing for seniors with 38 properties in 28 communities in the United States, B’nai B’rith has developed expertise in senior services. In addition to providing housing, we also work with local building staff and residents to provide leadership training and information on health and safety best practices. This includes an annual leadership conference for building staff and a biennial camping trip for resident leaders to come together and share ideas and thoughts on how to engage fellow residents. All these programs aim to increase the quality of life for all residents and provide a welcoming and safe environment in our buildings.

B’nai B’rith’s Center for Senior Services works tirelessly to advocate on behalf of senior citizens regarding housing, health care, and social security. Our CSS staff works to inform elected officials on the needs of our elder population and to protect the necessary government programs that benefit them. We have long believed that both Social Security and Medicare must be carefully examined and strengthened as the social safety nets they have been for more than 70 years.

Humanitarian Aid: B’nai B’rith has been a leading responder during times of crisis around the world since the mid-1800s and today, our commitment to providing aid remains even stronger. The humanitarian aid pillar of our work began by distributing funds during a Baltimore flood and providing aid to Moses Montefiore for the 1865 cholera epidemic in pre-state Israel. Since those beginnings, whenever disasters strike in the United States or around the globe B’nai B’rith helps from the outset and remains to rebuild to the end.

Most recently B’nai B’rith provided thousands of face shields to hospital staff in Italy to help protect essential works from the deadly COVID-19 virus, gave assistance to the Idyllwild Help Center in Idyllwild, California in response to the wildfires that have devastated the community recently, and raised funds for the victims that were displaced by Hurricanes Sally, Dorian, Michael, and Florence. After stepping in to aid through volunteer people-power, donated funds, or both, B’nai B’rith utilizes its contacts in the impacted area and coordinates with other agencies to provide emergency support relief efforts and long-term rebuilding plans.
