B’nai B’rith International has opened its Flood, Tornado and Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund to assist the victims of the tornadoes that struck the Midwest on Nov. 17.

The National Weather Service reported 80 tornadoes across the Midwest, killing at least six people, injuring hundreds, destroying buildings and leaving countless people without electricity. Illinois was hit especially hard with a category EF-4 tornado touching down in the town of Washington, Ill., and Governor Pat Quinn declaring seven counties disaster zones.

“It’s heartbreaking to see this devastation occur in my home state of Illinois. As always, B’nai B’rith is ready to take action, as we have done since 1865,” B’nai B’rith International President Allan J. Jacobs said.

As the extent of the horrific damage in the Philippines is still being uncovered following Typhoon Haiyan, the B’nai B’rith Disaster Relief Fund remains open to assist the victims. You can click here to donate.

The B’nai B’rith Disaster Relief Fund aided victims of Hurricane Sandy in the fall of 2012, as well as the victims of the Moore, Okla., tornado in May 2013. B’nai B’rith disaster relief funds have also provided aid internationally, assisting earthquake victims in Haiti and Japan, and following man-made disasters, such as the Boston Marathon bombing.

“Any time a natural disaster strikes, B’nai B’rith is always ready to reach out and help those who are facing trying times. We will work with representatives of agencies and those on the ground to provide assistance where it is needed,” B’nai B’rith International Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin said.
