Richard Spencer Due On Campus Dec. 6
B’nai B’rith International wrote to the president of Texas A&M over the on-campus speech scheduled for Dec. 6 by hate monger Richard Spencer.

B’nai B’rith is urging students and the local community not to attend the speech.

We acknowledge the university president has condemned Spencer and the school has arranged for an alternative counter event, “Aggies United.” However, we continue to believe the university should not provide space for Spencer to spread his bigoted message, but rather should cancel his appearance.

Spencer, the alt-right founder, has a  long history of racism, bigotry and anti-Semitism, and last month at a conference in Washington, D.C., delivered a speech in which he implied that Jews have infiltrated the media, and used the phrase “Hail victory,”—an effort to mimic Adolf Hitler—throughout his speech.

A former student has organized the Texas A&M event. We are encouraged that more than 10,000 people have signed a petition to cancel the speaking engagement.

Though Texas A&M did not invite Spencer, B’nai B’rith President Gary P. Saltzman and CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin wrote to the school’s president expressing great concern over Spencer’s appearance: “A man often described as the leader of the self-described ‘alt-right’ movement, Spencer preaches a crude form of ethnic nationalism and is most known for his appropriation of Nazi tropes.”
