B’nai B’rith President Robert Spitzer and CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin have issued the following statement:

The United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution backing the United States government’s 20-point peace plan for the Gaza Strip.

B’nai B’rith International now again calls upon the international community to urgently enforce its terms—beginning with the total disarming and removal from power of Hamas.

Over a month after President Donald Trump’s plan went into effect, Hamas continues to reconsolidate its power, terrorize Gazans and withhold the remains of Israeli and international hostages. Those victims include Ran Gvili, Dror Or and Sudthisak Rinthalak. They must finally be returned to their loved ones now.

There can be no peace in the Middle East as long as jihadists committed to thwarting it retain the capacity to do so.

Now is a moment for the U.N. to show that it will do more to improve conditions in Gaza than merely pay lip service and focus blame on Israelis rightly seeking to end violent threats.
