During his visit to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Argentine President Javier Milei was honored by the international organization B’nai B’rith with a medal recognizing his commitment to combating terrorism, his support for the State of Israel, and his respect for Judaism.
Dan Mariaschin, CEO of B’nai B’rith, explained the reasons for the honor:
“From the very moment President Milei was elected, we decided he should receive this most important medal. His clear stance against terrorism, his support for Israel, and his respect for Judaism were decisive.”
The award also acknowledges his role in advancing justice in the AMIA case.
“An especially important aspect of his record is the support he has given to legislation allowing trials in absentia for those who carried out the AMIA bombing. This is something that deserves international recognition,” Mariaschin noted.
The medal was presented in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The bond between Milei and Netanyahu is a story of cooperation between two leaders who understand one another. That understanding is fundamental in today’s diplomacy,” Mariaschin emphasized, highlighting the significance of the encounter for Argentina–Israel relations.
The B’nai B’rith leader also recalled the legacy of other figures who have received this distinction:
“Leaders such as John F. Kennedy, David Ben-Gurion, and Stephen Harper have all been part of this list. Without question, President Milei belongs in that company of friends of the Jewish people and the State of Israel.”
