Throughout the 20th century, delis weaved their way into American food and culture. Today, we can see the influence delis have made on how we eat, our sense of community and much more.

The new exhibition “I’ll Have What She’s Having”: The Jewish Deli, created by curators at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, explores the vibrant institution – and how Jewish immigrants, mostly from Central and Eastern Europe, imported and adapted traditions to create a uniquely American restaurant.

One of the exhibition’s curators, Laura Mart, speaks with B’nai B’rith CEO Dan Mariaschin about how “I’ll Have What She’s Having” became a nationally recognized exploration of the Jewish deli’s evolution into an American institution, and where we can expect to see the exhibit in the future.
