B’nai B’rith is pleased to speak with legendary sports columnist Jerry Izenberg for the latest interview in our Conversations series, a platform to spotlight the excellence and contributions of Jewish Americans to our society.

Izenberg, longtime sports reporter and columnist for the Newark Star-Ledger, joins our CEO Dan Mariaschin to talk about his new memoir, “Baseball, Nazis & Nedick’s Hot Dogs: Growing Up Jewish in the 1930s in Newark,” which details his Jewish upbringing in Newark, New Jersey, and the love, community, and purpose he found during a period fraught with anti-Semitism, Depression, and World War.

A contributor to the Star-Ledger for 72 years and counting, Izenberg has been to 58 Kentucky Derbies, is one of only two daily newspaper columnists to have covered the first 53 Super Bowls – and counted Muhammad Ali as a close friend.
