How can you help B’nai B’rith and the Cuban Jewish Relief Project?
MISSIONS TO CUBA
Join your fellow B’nai B’rith members and friends on a voyage of religious discovery and humanitarian goodwill today! The B’nai B’rith Cuban Jewish Relief Project has been building personal connections in Cuba for nearly 20 years, and the strength of that relationship with our Cuban family only continues to grow with each new mission.
With an experienced B’nai B’rith group leader and an expert English speaking guide, you can expect your Cuban mission to offer a meaningful, personal exchange with the Cuban Jewish community while contributing to decades of B’nai B’rith impact.
Get to know the Cuban leaders who are working to preserve their Jewish communities. Learn about the history of Jews in Cuba, and help support their future. Share in Shabbat services and other activities with the local congregations. Help B’nai B’rith reinforce the bonds of fellowship with our Cuban brothers and sisters.
Cuba is changing rapidly – now is the time to plan your Cuba experience!
MAKE A DONATION
The average Cuban makes the equivalent of $30 USD per month. Government retirement benefits equal approximately $10 USD a month, which greatly burdens the lives of Cuba’s rapidly aging Jewish population who are reliant on these subsidies.
Funding for the Cuban Jewish Relief Project goes directly into the hands of those who need it most. Your contribution will allow B’nai B’rith to continue its legacy of preservation, revitalization, and sustainability in the Cuban Jewish community. Through our commitments to the Tzedakah Project and other community-led initiatives, our impact is greatly enhanced by your assistance.
For two decades, B’nai B’rith has provided hundreds of thousands of pounds of material support for the Cuban Jewish community. Prior to each mission, our dedicated staff communicates directly with the leaders on the ground in Cuba to evaluate what the exact needs of the community are at that time.
Congregations sometimes request Judaica, Shabbat candles, prayer books, and other religious contributions to enhance the ability of the Jewish population in Cuba to practice their religion. Often, these communities are in need of other basic necessities. School supplies, educational materials, clothing, cooking utensils, sewing supplies and other such items are expensive commodities in Cuba, high in demand and low in supply. We are frequently contacted for certain over-the-counter and prescription medicines that are hard to come by on the island.
These small items have a great impact in the lives of individuals, and are an essential component of the Cuban Jewish Relief Project. With your contribution, B’nai B’rith will arrange to have your gift delivered to the community on an upcoming mission. Please contact our office today for more information.
