Bruce Pascal of Potomac, Maryland, was elected vice chairman of B’nai B’rith International by the organization’s international board of governors during its triennial meeting, according to a Jan. 12 press release.

The vice chairman, the No. 2 volunteer leadership position within the nonprofit organization, is responsible for serving as a direct liaison with volunteers and taking care of other internal and external functions.

Pascal brings more than a decade of involvement with B’nai B’rith, including a tenure as the organization’s senior vice president. He also has experience leading fundraising efforts to support Jewish causes, according to the release.

“As vice chairman, I am committed to leveraging the power of B’nai B’rith to address today’s pressing issues and amplify our impact on a global scale,” Pascal said in the release. “I am eager to bring my passion, experience and dedication to this esteemed role and to contribute meaningfully to the future successes of B’nai B’rith.”

During his years with B’nai B’rith, Pascal has advocated for activist Alan Gross, who was imprisoned in Cuba from 2009 to 2014. Pascal utilized “persistent diplomacy and engagement with Cuban officials,” which largely contributed to Gross’ eventual release.

Pascal has also worked as a commercial real estate agent for 35 years. The lifelong Washingtonian has supported Israel-focused nonprofit organizations with real estate needs and spearheaded fundraising campaigns for Jewish causes.

Michael Gellman, of Potomac, was reelected treasurer of B’nai B’rith, according to the release. Gellman brings more than 35 years of experience in nonprofit fiscal, financial and accounting systems, providing services for trade and professional associations, public charities and endowment-based foundations.

He also sits on the board of the B’nai B’rith International Center for Human Rights and Public Policy.
