Jewish men and women during the Revolutionary era sought freedom in America and worked to expand the parameters of liberty for all. They fought alongside their Christian counterparts as patriots, helped shape the new republic, and pushed the nation to uphold its founding ideals. At the same time, Jewish religious life evolved as the community cemented its place in American society.

This history is the focus of “A Promised Land: Jewish Patriots, the American Revolution, and the Birth of Religious Freedom,” a new book by Auburn University Professor Dr. Adam Jortner.

In this episode of the Conversations with B’nai B’rith podcast, B’nai B’rith CEO Dan Mariaschin speaks with Jortner about the often overlooked history of Jewish contributions to America’s founding era.
