The gathering underscored Cyprus’s strategic position as a bridge between Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S.

As a side event to the annual United Nations General Assembly, the Center for Jewish Impact, in partnership with B’nai B’rith International, hosted a distinguished event honoring President of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, in recognition of his longstanding partnership and his role in strengthening bilateral relations between Cyprus and Israel. The gathering underscored Cyprus’s strategic position as a bridge between Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, and highlighted the importance of partnerships built on shared values, trust, and regional cooperation.

The centerpiece of the event was a Fireside Chat led by Robert Singer, Chairman of the Center for Jewish Impact. During the conversation, President Christodoulides discussed the opportunities and responsibilities of regional leadership, including collaboration in energy, security, innovation, and people-to-people initiatives. The discussion reflected the practical importance of fostering strategic partnerships capable of delivering tangible and lasting impact across the region.

President Christodoulides referred to the role of Cyprus in the region of Eastern Mediterranean, being part of the solution instead of the problem, in promoting stability and cooperation.

Robert Singer emphasized the significance of the Cyprus-Israel relationship, stating:“The partnership between Israel and Cyprus is more vital than ever. It provides regional stability, connects Europe and the Middle East, and creates opportunities in energy, security, and human connections. Strategic relationships built on trust and shared values are essential for resilient and effective cooperation, even in times of change and heightened competition.”

B’nai B’rith International CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin: “We are pleased to join CJI in hosting President Christodoulides during the high-level week of the U.N. General Assembly. The ties between the Jewish people and Cyprus go back millennia, and in recent years the bilateral relations between Israel and Cyprus have grown significantly, supported by the strong partnership between the Hellenic-American and American Jewish communities. This meeting is another expression of a strong and mutually respectful engagement.”

The event further highlighted the pivotal role of public diplomacy in promoting dialogue, trust, and collaboration among nations, leaders, and communities. Bringing together key stakeholders in an open and constructive setting demonstrated how shared values can translate into meaningful cooperation, reinforcing stability, fostering regional development, and strengthening international partnerships at both strategic and human levels.
