As co-creator of the special exhibit “Stories We Were Never Told: Visualizing the Holocaust in Bulgaria and Beyond,” Comforty shows how survivor testimonies, oral histories and archival materials challenge the long-held misconception that there was no Holocaust in Bulgaria—and bring to light powerful, often-overlooked stories of trauma, resilience and remembrance.

“Stories We Were Never Told,” opening January 2026 at the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida in Maitland, showcases the artwork of Martha Aladjem Bloomfield, and is based on Jacky Comforty’s extensive oral history and documentation work. Learn more about the exhibit here.
