B’nai B’rith President Robert Spitzer and CEO Daniel S. Mariaschin have issued the following statement:
B’nai B’rith congratulates our longtime leader, colleague and friend Irving Silver for receiving the Alabama Lawyer Hall of Honor award from the Law School Foundation Board of Governors and the Alabama Law Alumni Society.
Silver is a 1965 graduate of Alabama Law.
In addition to his impressive legal work, Silver has been a dedicated and influential leader at B’nai B’rith.
Leadership and Service at B’nai B’rith
In 2025, B’nai B’rith honored Silver with the Moe and Berdie Kudler Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, in recognition of his deep commitment to countless programs and initiatives during his decades of volunteering.
Silver’s father-in-law encouraged him to join B’nai B’rith. In the late 1960s, Silver helped revive Mobile, Alabama’s, Beth Zur Lodge, which had been established in 1865. This led to a lifetime of service in B’nai B’rith.
Silver’s volunteer work with B’nai B’rith includes roles as the president of B’nai B’rith’s former District Seven as well as its chair. In addition, he is the chair of the B’nai B’rith Foundation of the United States. And he is a past chair of B’nai B’rith International’s Center for Human Rights and Public Policy. Silver is a member of the Financial Management and Planning Committees of B’nai B’rith.
Philanthropy and Community Involvement
His many other charitable endeavors include being a charter member of the Alabama Law Foundation’s Atticus Finch Society and a member of the President’s Cabinet of the University of South Alabama.
Silver has been practicing law for some six decades and continues to guide his clients in their business and estate planning matters. He is past president of the Estate Planning Council of Mobile; a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys; and a member of the Special Needs Alliance.
Professional Achievements
Professional accolades include being peer-nominated as an “Alabama Super Lawyer” as well as a top-rated lawyer for business & commercial litigation. And has an “AV Preeminent” peer rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory. Silver is the recipient of Spring Hill College’s Ignatian Award, given to those “who have dedicated their spirit to making a difference in the lives of others through selfless acts of humanitarianism.”
Silver graduated from the University of Alabama School of Commerce and Business Administration. He then earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.
Silver and his wife, Frances, are the parents of Hedy and Evan, and grandparents of Jill, Scott, Adam, Eric and Dylan.
B’nai B’rith salutes Silver for this well-deserved honor.
